On our recent Royal Caribbean Monarch of the Seas cruise we discovered Port Canaveral cruise parking is now $15 a day. This was the first time we had parked at the cruise port in years and it will likely be the last time for several more years. Had this been a 7 night cruise we would have spent over $100 on parking alone.
One of the great things about cruising from Port Canaveral are the number of hotels in the area that offer park and cruise specials. These specials typically include hotel, parking for the length of your cruise and in many cases shuttle to and from the cruise port. When all is said and done your hotel and parking ends up costing about the same as a 7 day parking pass at the port. In other words a little extra trouble taking a Port Canaveral shuttle to and from your car basically earns you a free hotel stay. Well worth it in my opinion.
The hotels with free parking aren’t just for those within driving distance of the port either, especially when you consider the fact that the closest airport to Port Canaveral is 60 miles away in Orlando. This means even those flying down for their cruise will need to either obtain a rental car or an expensive shuttle service from the Orlando airport to the cruise terminal. For those with rental cars the cheaper option will be to keep the car for the full week (don’t get me started on this one) so they will need to park their car somewhere as well.
Having cruised out of Port Canaveral several times including stays at hotels both near the port and in nearby Cocoa Beach, I’ve compiled a quick little guide to help you with planning your next cruise out of Port Canaveral. If you have any questions just leave a comment (I think I have commenting fixed now anyway) and I will be happy to help where I can.
Hotels Near Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal |
There are a few Port Canaveral hotels with free cruise parking that are close enough to the cruise terminal that you can even see the ships from some of the rooms. Because of this convenience and the cruise packages offered they have become favorites amongst seasoned cruisers and are often given high praise on message boards like cruise critic.
Radisson Resort at the Port – This is hands down the favorite among cruisers due to how close it is to the port as well as the cruise special that includes breakfast, parking and shuttle to and from the port. The resort style pool and jacuzzi are a nice touch for those who decide not to stay at the beach side hotels further down the road.
Country Inn & Suites – Like the Radisson the Country Inn is located close to the port and offers breakfast, shuttle and parking. The Country Inn doesn’t have as many rooms as the Radisson so it can be hard to find a room here for last minute cruises.
Cocoa Beach Hotels |
For those who would rather stay closer to the beach there are a few good options a little further down the road in Cocoa Beach. Even if a shuttle isn’t offered, a taxi from Cocoa Beach to the port should be less than $20 each way.
Comfort Inn & Suites Cocoa Beach – 300ft from beach and offers cruise package that includes complimentary drink, parking and one way transportation to the port.
Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront – Deluxe rooms, free parking and shuttle to and from the hotel to the port.
Days Inn Cocoa Beach at the Pier – Deluxe continental breakfast, parking, transportation to and from port plus discounts to local restaurants and attractions.
Doubletree Cocoa Beach Oceanfront – Free parking and $5 per person shuttle.
