Cruises from New York City

New York is my favorite city by itself, add to that a chance to cruise pass the downtown skyline and Statue of Liberty and this is a must do. There are three main ports serving cruises from the New York City. Those three ports are Brooklyn, Manhattan and Cape Liberty New Jersey.

Red Hook Brooklyn Cruise Terminal

If there is one new port that I am most excited about its the Red Hook port in Brooklyn. The word from cruisers who have done this port is that you shouldn’t miss the morning arrival back into New York as the sun rises and you sail past the Statue of Liberty. So don’t party too hard that last night… or at least stay up all night… after all New York is the city that never sleeps. Currently Cunard and Princess cruise lines operate ships from this port.

Manhattan Cruise Terminal

In the heart of it all this cruise terminal serves many of the major lines such as Carnival, Norwegian, Holland America and Crystal. They will even be adding Disney in 2012. For a land and sea vacation you couldn’t ask for a better port location. spending a couple days before or after the cruise is as easy as a quick taxi ride to your hotel.

Cape Liberty Cruise Terminal

While Cape Liberty may be the less glamorous of the three ports its still a pretty good cruise option. Especially if you are fans of Royal Caribbean or Celebrity who choose this port for their ships. The downside is your a few miles further away from the heart of New York City and you don’t cruise as close to Lady Liberty. On the other hand you will be on some of the best cruise lines in the business. So its not a total loss.
