Did you know there was a way you could earn free stateroom credit on every cruise you take? Well there is. Both Carnival Corporation and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd offer shareholder benefits to those who own at least 100 shares of their stock. These benefit comes in the form of stateroom credits that vary based on the number of nights in your sailing and the credits can be obtained for any of the lines owned by these companies.
Note that Carnival stock is just over $30 a share at the time of this article and Royal Caribbean is just over $21. That means at 100 shares you are looking at a $2,100 and $3,000 investment to take advantage of these benefits. Still if you are a frequent cruiser this may be something to think about. Someone cruising 4 times a year could receive on average $400 in stateroom credits. That’s a 19% return on your RCL investment and a 13% return on CCL in stateroom credit alone.
I have yet to try this on Carnival but I have taken advantage of the Royal Caribbean shareholder benefit and it worked like a charm. Even though they say it takes two to three weeks to receive your benefit, my request was filled within a week. With $100 in credit the majority of our tips were paid for before we even left the home port.
Below is an overview of the benefits offered by Carnival and Royal Caribbean. I have also included links to the respective sites that include contact info. Investor relation support is usually very responsive so if you have any questions don’t hesitate to send them an email.
