Cruises from Ft Lauderdale

Ft Lauderdale may no longer be the Spring Break capital of the world but the city certainly has a claim for the cruise capital of the world. In fact Port Everglades was actually named “port of the year” by Seatrade Insider. With more than 3.7 million cruiser expected to pass through this year on one of the 55 different ships and 15 different cruise lines with cruises from Ft Lauderdale, the port may just win again.

The Ships

The biggest and best ships sail out of Ft Lauderdale. Both the Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas can be boarded in Port Everglades as can Celebrity’s Equinox and Solstice. Those four ships alone are arguably the top four ships in the world. Aside from those mega ships, customer favorites such as the Island Princess, Holland America Eurodam and Carnival Miracle also call Ft Lauderdale home.

Cruises

Cruises from Ft Lauderdale start with 2 day cruises to the Bahamas and go all the way up to 24 day round trip cruises to South America on the Holland America Prinsendam. You can cruise the Caribbean, go through the Panama Canal, visit Canada or even head across the ocean to Europe, all from Port Everglades.

Park and Cruise

Ft Lauderdale isn’t too shabby either with its five star beaches, million dollar homes and beach side resorts so stay an extra day before or after your cruise. Be sure to look for one of the hotels offering park and cruise packages to save some money. Parking at the port cost $15 and that can add up on those long two cruises. The Hollywood Beach Marriott and Crown Plaza Hollywood Beach Resort are two that offer park and cruise packages. Considering hotels have struggled lately it would be worth asking others for cruise packages and free parking. More than likely they would be willing to offer parking just to get your business.
